Utrecht Acrylic Paints
You can’t go wrong with Utrecht paints. Hand-crafted in Brooklyn since 1949. Consistent quality, decent price.
“To live a creative life,
we must lose our fear of being wrong”
The medium body Studio Series paints are billed as more economical for classrooms and artists of straightened circumstance, while Utrecht Artists’ Heavy Body Acrylics are marketed to the pros.
But like all those fancy buttons on a camera, you don’t know you need them until you need them. More pigment = more $$$. Sometimes you want easy spreadability and blending right from the tube – medium body. Other times, solid coverage. Heavy body.
After you discover the paints’ abilities and limitations, you’ll find a tube or two of the thicker stuff is well-worth the price – think Lexus steering & throttle response vs. Dad’s Ford station wagon. Artistic growth you can’t buy reading a book or listening to an instructor.
Imagination doesn’t have to stop with putting condiments on your burger. Want to try? Acquire two yards of canvas and six or eight 8oz tubes of medium-body Utrecht acrylic paint. Mix it up. (Not the paint, the selections; I favor Medium Red over Primary Red.) Clamp some canvas to a board or table. Slip into your favorite shabs. Grab a handful of old brushes and kitchen utensils.
Have at it And CREATE !!!
